Family Safaris at Honeyguide Khoka Moya

Families wishing to enjoy a luxury safari in the Kruger National Park want their entire family to enjoy the experience. This is why Honeyguide Khoka Moya offers peace of mind that children will be included in the day’s activities
The children’s program includes activities, supervised by the camp staff, where younger children can engage in a variety of activities including colouring-in, bead-making and cookie-making in the kitchen.
For older children, we plan treasure hunts or short guided walks around the circumference of the property to take in the small wonders of the bush.
There are also some basic sporting implements such as soccer and cricket. While the activities tend to focus on nature and are mostly based outdoors, in the event of cold weather there is a children′s room with a small library and a collection of DVDs.
Children are welcome to go on drives with their parents.
We appreciate that children often have different dietary requirements so we are able to provide alternative dishes for chidlren, with food such as pasta, fish fingers, hamburgers, hotdogs and ice-cream.
Our rate for children under the age of 12 years is 50% of the adult rate and is based on the child sharing a tent with the adult. There is no charge for children under the age of 2 years.
Please Note: The children’s program is at Khoka Moya camp only and not at Mantobeni camp (the sister camp to Khoka Moya) which only takes children over the age of 12 years, such older children being recognized and charged as adults

A Day On Safari at Honeyguide Mantobeni Camp

No alarm clocks on Safari – but awaken to the sound of an African Drum calling you to start your day with the excitement of an early morning Game Drive with your ranger and tracker.

After enjoying tea, coffee or fruit juice, you will depart for your safari in an open game drive vehicle.

Spend approximately 3 hours in the Manyeleti Game Reserve in search of the Big Five, stopping for light refreshments during the morning.

After the excitement of perhaps seeing a Lion Kill, relish in a hearty breakfast back at the camp.

For those travellers who wish to enjoy the sights and sounds of the bush on foot – join the tracker on a walking safari in the bush. Bush Walks offer a different and exciting experience -the emphasis being on the plant life, small insects and animals and the abudant bird life in the area – conducted in close proximity to your camp.

If a walking safari does not appeal to you, relax at the swimming pool listening to the sounds of the bush while dipping in the crystal blue water.

After a light three-course lunch, prepare yourself for another game drive in the afternoon. Don’t forget your jackets, camera’s and binoculars – as you are sure to spot animals not yet seen.
The afternoon safari dontinues into the night, giving you the experience of the sounds of the night and viewing nocturnal animals. Remember it can get chilly once the sun goes down – so we always recommend taking a warm jacket and beanie.
Enjoy sundowners in the bush on your afternoon safari while watching the spectacular African Sunset – and then setting off yet again in your game drive vehicle to continue your game experience.
After a satisfying 3-hour safari, you will return to your camp to have drinks around the camp fire – sharing stories of your day’s game viewing.
Nothing beats a sumptuous dinner at the end of the day, served under the star light sky in the open-air boma.
