Classic Cape & Safari – 10 day Self Drive

Start your 10 day self-drive safari in the picturesque Cape.

Flanked by the Atlantic and Indian Oceans and boasting a delightful Mediterranean climate, it’s not difficult to understand why Cape Town is a firm favourite amongst visitors to South Africa.

Explore the picturesque beaches of the Cape Peninsula and absorb the breathtaking (must be breathtaking. I know word says it’s wrong and suggests breathe-taking, but Google thinks otherwise) scenery of the winelands before embarking on an ultimate safari experience in the iconic Kruger National Park.


Day 1 – 4: Explore cosmopolitan Cape Town

Arrive at Cape Town International Airport where you will be met by an African Welcome representative who will assist you with collecting your rental car.

The Victoria & Alfred Hotel provides sumptuous lodgings and the perfect respite for the next four days as you explore the sights and sounds of the fairest Cape. A trip up Table Mountain with an aerial cable car is a must. Running from the foot of the mountain to the top, the trip provides panoramic views of the whole Cape Town area. You will be able to see the historic Robben Island where Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Nelson Mandela, spent 18 of his 27 incarcerated years.

Take a scenic drive along the peninsula and travel to Cape Point, a nature reserve located within the Table Mountain Nature Reserve, which is a declared Natural World Heritage Site. Cape Point offers exceptional vantage points over rugged rocks and sheer cliffs which tower above the ocean. Make sure to include a visit to Boulders Beach,, home to a boisterous colony of African Penguins, before heading back to your boutique hotel.

Day 5 – 6: Embark on a compelling journey around the Cape Winelands

The verdant valleys of the Cape Winelands, protected by towering mountain ranges, produce some of the finest wines in the world. The Cape Winelands are dotted with charming towns rich in history and alive in remarkable Cape Dutch architecture and fine vintages. Spend the day exploring this lush region, taking in world class wines, delectable cuisine and breathtaking scenery.

Wine estates are scattered like hidden treasures throughout the region and guests are spoilt for choice in sampling the distinguished varietals on offer.

Franschhoek in particular is renowned for being the fine dining capital of the Cape with a range of exquisite restaurants for you to explore. Day 7 – 9: Encounter the Big Five at the iconic Kruger National Park

After dropping your rental car at Cape Town International Airport, the next phase of your journey begins as you board a flight to Nelspruit, situated near the Kruger National Park. On arrival at Nelspruit Airport you will be transferred on Federal Air to the captivating Sabi Sands Reserve, a private concession located in the Kruger National Park, renowned for its exceptional game viewing encounters.

Day 10: Depart Kruger National Park
