Full Day Rise to Freedom Tour

This is a great Tour for gaining insights into the History of Apartheid and Cultural backrounds of many South Africans involved in the struggle to bring Democracy to South Africa.

Constantly striving to achieve true democracy, South African’s have been through a fascinating history.

This tour shares some of the journey, pain and struggle of those heroes. Witness the places and experience the diverse museums where these momentous, tumultuous years have been so well documented. We begin our day with a visit to the Apartheid Museum.

This journey will take you from the dark days of Apartheid, through to the historic release of Nelson Mandela.

The Apartheid Museum offers documentary film snippets, sound clips and live accounts of this era.

Lunch will be enjoyed either at the Apartheid Museum or at a local restaurant in the Soweto Township [ own account ].

After lunch, visit the Hector Pieterson Museum, giving you an understanding of the cause of the devastating riots which led to his death. Travel past Mandela House with the option of visiting this museum [ own account ] Continue to the Regina Mundi Church, which was the site of secret underground meetings of the banned political parties during the years of Apartheid.

You will end your tour with a drive past the largest stadium in Africa – Soccer City. Soccer City is also known as the Calabash and was the host of the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup. It’s a fascinating tour, filled with tales of bravery and sadness, but ultimately it’s a story with the right ending.
