12 Day Cape Town & Garden Route Honeymoon
Spend 12 days enjoying the best there is to offer in Cape Town and the Garden Route on a flexible basis – giving you the freedom to enjoy each day on your Honeymoon at your own pace. This splendid self-drive Honeymoon takes you to the glittering and vibey city of Cape Town, where you will be spending 4 Nights. You will then depart for the French Huguenot town of Franschhoek, to spend 2 Nights among rolling Vineyards and Award winning wine estates before travelling along Route 62 to Knysna – the hub of the Garden Route.
Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival In Cape Town
On your arrival at Cape Town International Airport, you will collect your hire car and drive to the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront – with it’s wide choice of upmarket shops, restaurants and boat trips! Relax for the rest of the day soaking up new sights and recovering from your long flight. Spend the following four nights at the 4 star Commodore Hotel, situated near the entrance to the V & A Waterfront
Day 2 – 4: Explore Cape Town
The following three days are to be spent enjoying the delights of this amazing city. Spend time soaking up the sun on one of our glorious beaches, take the cable car to the Summit of Table Mountain, shop up a storm at the boutique shops in the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront or enjoy a boat trip to Seal Island. A day is recommended to visit Cape Point & Cape of Good Hope, spending time at Boulders Penguin Beach and exploring the quaint shops in Kalk Bay. Stroll around Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens with the majestic Table Mountain as your back drop and for those more energetic, you could even hike up Table Mountain from Kirstenbosch. Go back and time and visit Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was kept prisoner or explore the District Six Museum End your days perhaps sipping cocktails at one of the beach front restaurants in Camps Bay
Day 5 – 6: Winelands Of The Cape
Depart the city of Cape Town and head out to the rolling Vineyards and incredible beauty of the Cape Winelands. Spending two nights in this area will allow you to relax and explore the historical villages of Stellenbosch & Franschhoek. First and foremost Franschhoek is about food and wine – and lots of it! The number of top rated restaurants together with the excellent boutique wine farms of the Franschhoek Valley makes this the most perfect place to visit in all of South Africa for food and wine lovers! Franschhoek Country House is situated in the heart of the Franschhoek Valley and in strolling distance to this lovely little village
Day 7: Explore Route 62
Say farewell to the Winelands and take a leisurely drive to the quaint town of Robertson. The Robertson Small Hotel, where you will be spending one night, is ideally situated to explore the towns & villlages of Route 62. Robertson hosts one of the longest Wine Routes , with small historical villages along the way, this fertile valley offers beauty and peace – the ideal retreat on a romantic honeymoon
Day 8: Ostrich Country
Heading inland, we arrive in the Little Karoo – the heart of Ostrich Country along the Garden Route. The Ostrich capital of the world, ostriches and ostrich products are found in abundance in this little Karoo town. It is the commercial centre of the Little Karoo and is scenically situation between the Outeniqua and Swartberg Mountains. A town rich in architecture, magnificent old feather palaces bear witness to the opulence of the town during the ostrich feather boom The Cango Caves are well worth a visit, as well as one of the many Ostrich Farms, where if you are brave enough – you can even ride an Ostrich. Hlangana Lodge is a four-star guesthouse set on more than a hectare of exotic gardens on the outskirts of Oudtshoorn, en route to the Cango Caves.
Day 9 – 11: Spend Time In Knysna
Depart the semi-arid area of Oudtshoorn and wind your way to the coast and the heart of the Garden Route, where you will be spending 3 Nights in the coastal town of Knysna. Knysna is a popular holiday destination and is the ideal base to further explore the areas of Plettenberg Bay and beyond. Quaint shops and art galleries await you, or enjoy one of the boat trips on the Knysna Lagoon. Spend a day in Plettenberg Bay to visit the Elephant Sanctuary for a close encounter with these gentle giants or put on your hiking boots and walk in some of the scenic trails in the area. Elephant Hide of Knysna Guest House offers superb service and beautiful views just a stone’s throw from the town
Day 12: Your Adventure Has Come To An End!
After breakfast, bid farewell to the Garden Route and drop off your hire car at George Airport – for your onward flight to Johannesburg
